Welcome to my big nerdy project!
So I made a crazy spreadsheet for us to track our books.. and then I made this. My vision is for us to be able to have a shared space to talk about our books without the pressure of always needing "book club time." We can obviously talk via text or on the phone when the time arises as well, but I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated space for just book-talk.
I have made a few pages for you to review:
1) Book Tracker 2026
This is a visualization of our book tracker.
2) What we do
This is a brief summarization of this website.
Some things to know:
Pages vs Posts
Pages are static - for things that basically won't change. Posts are dynamic - this is what we'll be using to discuss and talk shop.
I have no idea what I'm doing
I am figuring this out as I go because I remember absolutely none of it from high school, so if you feel frustrated/overwhelmed with something you are trying to do let me know! If I don't know, we will figure it out together!
I think labels will be our friend in the end?
Not a requirement (none of this is a requirement) but I think adding labels would help. Maybe at least a label of what book it is we're discussing, and what the post is for.
For example: We're reading Beloved by Toni Morrison and I'm making my final review - I might use the labels "Beloved," "Morrison," and/or "Review."
As another example, for this post, I have labeled it "intro."
This isn't set in stone
If you hate it, we don't have to do it! My goal was to come up with a way for us to have discussions on the books we've read and to be able to go back and reference them later, and to take some of the pressure off of needing to be "done" with a certain checkpoint. I don't want this to become a school-type-vibe of "finish 30 pages by tomorrow so we can have a quiz in the morning!" Just type up a little post whenever you get to something interesting and call it a day. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling are unimportant in this context. It's just meant to be a fun little thing for us, so if you hate it, we'll just delete this thing and forget it happened!
